  • Presenting at the Shakespeare Concert

    Thu 22 Jun 2017

We were asked by Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to do a presentation at their Shakespeare Concert, to share all the amazing things we did during our Shakespeare Week. We were one of only 7 schools who were featured in this concert and the only school in the country who were asked to do a formal presentation.

We took a year 3, 5 and 6 child to present and they did an outstanding job. Please see the video of them presenting  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OV66zOGYhFE

We spent the morning in Stratford Upon Avon exploring Shakespeare's house, before presenting in the afternoon to over 300 people. We also met the world famous musician Julian Lloyd Webber, who was the patron of this year's Shakespeare Week.

  • Football News!

    Tue 20 Jun 2017

A big ‘thank you’ to Richard Meeks of Frank Key for their generous sponsorship. Richard Meeks of Frank Key was invited to Sir John Sherbrooke Junior School on Friday 16th June to present a cheque for £250 for their new football strip which was designed by Ryley Dunkin in Y4. Richard was very pleased to be supporting our football team who won the inaugural Calverton Challenge Cup against St Wilfrid’s 4-3 in a very exciting and close match played at William Lee Playing Fields (their new home ground). Mr Knott, Sherbrooke’s PE coordinator, also wanted to acknowledge the exceptional help and support from Calverton Parish Council who have agreed to maintain the pitch as well providing goals and corner flags for next season when we return to the Gedling league after a six year absence.

  • Sir John Sherbrooke’s Weekend Choir Tour

    Tue 20 Jun 2017

A selection of members of our school’s choir had a very busy weekend, performing at different events in Nottingham. On Saturday they performed at the Calverton Methodist Church’s summer fete, singing a range of songs, which included sign language, an African chant and the limbo! On Sunday they put their school uniforms back on and made their way to Arnold Carnival where they not only performed songs on their main stage, but also extracts of the Shakespearean play Romeo & Juliet. With all that performing over the weekend, the children finished the weekend relaxing with a well earned ice cream in the sunshine.
