Here you can see lots of the latest Sherbrooke news as it happens.
We hope you have all enjoyed the Easter break. It has certainly been a busy one here at SJS! We hope the photos will help to prepare children for their return on Monday if this is something they may need.
Please be assured that all construction areas have been fenced off and made safe for the children's return and there will not be any vehicle or machinery movement at the beginning or end of the school day. The front playground and school field are still available for children to enjoy at breaktimes, along with the grassed area behind the Year 3/4 classrooms. The back playground is fenced off for safety and we hope to have 'portholes' added shortly to enable children to look through and observe the construction site and building progress.
Please be reminded that only the main school gate will be in use, the CFSA gate will remain closed and also that bikes and scooters will not be permitted onto the school site throughout the summer term, but we will benefit from a new bike shed when we return in September. Thank you for your help to keep everyone safe throughout this time.
We held our first SJS Rocksteady Concert with our parents! These were a couple of pictures of our pre-concert rehearsal! We hope to see you at our next concert in July!

We had a fantastic time in Sheffield, where we sang the Pop Medley, the Wicked Medley, the Disco Medley, among many more! We also got to sing and dance along with Andy and the Urban Strides! We took 28 enthusiastic children who were led by our conductor, David Lawrence! We loved seeing our parents sing and dance along too! We can't wait for next year!
We had a wonderful time welcoming our local community to our Christmas Fayre!
The event was full of festive cheer, with a wide range of stalls, games and treats for everyone to enjoy. It was fantastic to see so many families come together and support the school. A highlight of the day was when two lucky pupils won Jellycats!
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event such a success. 🎄
Today, we were excited to kick off our Rocksteady programme with a fantastic launch day across the school!
The day began with a whole-school assembly, where pupils were introduced to Rocksteady and experienced live music performances that inspired everyone to get involved.
Following this, pupils took part in three engaging workshops. In these sessions, they had the opportunity to try out different instruments, including drums, guitar and keyboards, and learn how to play together as a band. The workshops focused on teamwork, rhythm and building confidence, giving every child a chance to shine.
It was a brilliant day full of energy and enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing our future bands develop!

Today, SJS observed a 2 minute silence and wrote what we were thankful for or someone we knew who was in the armed forces on the back of poppies. We then laid them during our Remembrance assembly like many do at Cenotaphs.
A group of Year 4 and 5 pupils had the honour of visiting Sherwood Observatory for the official placing of a time capsule this week.
The students chosen all worked hard on a piece of writing to describe the world in 60 years’ time.
Two Year 4 pupils even had their writing selected to go inside the capsule! Their predictions included robot teachers and drone for clear up the dinner hall!
All the children met the real life Sheriff of Nottingham and were taken on a tour of the night sky.
🎂 Red Nose Day Bake Sale 🍰
We had a fantastic time celebrating Red Nose Day with our school-wide bake sale! Children from all year groups took part in the competition, showcasing their amazing creativity and baking skills. The tables were filled with colourful cupcakes, funny-faced biscuits, and some truly show-stopping cakes! It was incredibly difficult for Miss Jackson and Miss Morgan to choose the winners, but in the end, we awarded first, second, and third prizes to three brilliant bakes. Altogether, we raised an incredible £200 for Comic Relief. A huge thank you to everyone who baked, bought, and supported—what a deliciously fun day for a great cause!
