At SJS, believe that it is vital that every child has the opportunity to regularly perform in high quality productions, that help push the children out of their comfort zones and in doing so, help them grow in experience, confidence, resilience and team work. We know that rehearsing and performing in front of an audience brings a deep sense of achievement and bonds children together in a way that normal lessons don’t. It also allows them to do challenge themselves to do something that they might otherwise never have done , showing them that it’s ok to try something new. Acting, singing, dancing allows children to express themselves and explore emotions and situations in a safe way, which in turns teaches them about themselves. We’ve seen time and again the positive power of performance in transforming children and allowing them to become the best they can be.
As a Take Care school we ensure that our productions are high quality and high challenge. Here are some of our regular performance opportunities:
Christmas Production - All year 3&4
Lessons & Carol service - All year 5&6
Shakespeare production - Any child who wants to be in it.
Village Get Together arena dance - Any child who wants to take part.
Summer Production (West End musical) - Whole School (year 6 taking the lead)
Young Voices - Years 4-6
Choir performances (in school & the community)- Any child who wants to take part.
Class Assemblies - Every child
Musical Instrument Concerts - All children who learn an instrument in school.
