  • Young Voices

    Sat 21 Jan 2017 MCL
Our school choir had an exciting and memorable musical experience when they took part in the Young Voices concert at Sheffield Arena.  With around 5000 pupils taking part from schools from around the country,  Young Voices is the largest school choir event in the world! They worked hard in rehearsals with Mrs Cookson and thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Sheffield. It was a long but rewarding day.
  • Singing at Broadmarsh

    Sat 17 Dec 2016 MCL
Twenty members of the choir, along with Mrs Cookson, Mrs Rogers, Miss Lloyd and Mr Pierrepont travelled into Nottingham by bus to put on a performance in the Broadmarsh Centre. Their singing was fantastic and admired by family, friends and members of the public who came to watch and listen. Thank you to Peter Short, our Chair of Governors, who came to support us.
  • Christmas Choir

    Fri 09 Dec 2016 MCL
The choir, led by Mrs Cookson, performed a selection of traditional and contemporary Christmas songs in St Wilfrid's Square and later at the Springwater Lodge Care Home. They proved to be a real hit with shoppers as well as with family members and friends who came to listen. Thank you to everyone at Springwater Lodge who gave us a warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the children's singing. A BIG thank you as well to them for providing drinks and chocolate treats to everyone afterwards.
  • Operation Christmas Child

Tue 22 Nov 2016 Tina Brown
We were absolutely overwhelmed with the support from our community in supporting the Operation Christmas Child charity. We send off boxes every year to children in other countries who will not receive gifts at Christmas. This year we sent a record 58 boxes! Many children created their own boxes at home but children also donated individual items to make 8 school boxes. These were sorted and packed by our Pupil Parliament who also helped the boxes onto the first part of their long journey - into Miss Brown's car to be taken to Arnold! Thank you so much for all your kindness and (dare I say it?) Merry Christmas!!!
  • Starbooks Cafe

Fri 18 Nov 2016 Tina Brown
On Friday 18th we held another really successful "Starbook's Café" - this time to support Children in Need. Parents, friends and carers joined us before school for a cup of tea or coffee plus hot buttered toast. The hot chocolate was very popular with the children! Families then ate their breakfast and shared books together. Outlines of Pudsey Bear were covered with small change. The whole hall was buzzing - a lovely atmosphere. A cake sale was also held later in the day.
  • Remembrance Assembly

    Sat 12 Nov 2016 MCL
On the 11th November, at 11 O'clock, pupils, staff, family and special guests observed a two minute silence in remembrance. In our assembly, children read poems and sang thought-provoking songs in honour of members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty. A sincere thank you to members of The Royal British Legion, which provides lifelong support for the Armed Forces community,  who attended our school service and recited the Ode of Remembrance. We will remember them.
  • Family Bonfire Lunch

    Sat 12 Nov 2016 MCL

After the success of our last family lunch event, it was lovely to see so many family and friends at the Bonfire Family Lunch. Thanks to Mrs Burrows and her kitchen team for providing the bonfire night inspired menu and to Mrs Sparks and the Midday Supervisors for doing such a great job. The lunchtime experience was excellent for all involved!

  • Cinema Club

    Tue 08 Nov 2016
Over 90 children were invited to attend our first ever cinema club, for the children who had achieved 100% attendance over the first half term.
  • Let's Get Cooking!

Tue 01 Nov 2016 Tina Brown
19 Lower School children recently completed a six week cooking club. Over this time the children made scones, pizza, carrot cupcakes and tomato and mascarpone sauce. One week we made over 100 cookies to sell to help our funds. On the last evening we made a 2 course meal; spaghetti Bolognese and knicker bocker glory. Staff and helpers were invited to eat with us. 26 people shared the meal together. It was a lovely event. Most of the children had practised using their skills at home with the recipe they took home every week. A further club will take place in January - this time recipes form around the world.
