Thank you to all the parents who came along for our open afternoon reading event. Parents and pupils together designed class reading pets.
Pupil Parliament have now chosen the winners and pets will now be created so that each class will have their own creative creation to read to!
Every pupil had the chance to deliver a campaign speech about why they would make a good MP for their class. We learned all about our British Values and the importance of democracy.

Children who see their parents as readers are more likely to become readers.
Thank you to all the parents who supported our school Readathon! We raised over £500 to be spent on childrens' libraries in hospitals.
The reading leaders also deserve a big 'thank you' for running and promoting the event.
To help raise the profile of STEM subjects at SJS, we ran a science competition in which the children worked in groups to create a cradle that can safely protect an egg when dropped from a great height! Every child took part and we were amazed at the level of creativity and teamwork the children showed.
