WOW! Our summer production (Bugsy Malone) this year had every child in the school in it, with nearly 100 children acting on stage and 100 in the choir. Our amazing year 6 children took on the main parts and worked extremely hard to push themselves to achieve more than they thought they could. What a brilliant way to end the year.
The afternoon of a variety of sporting activities was thoroughly enjoyed by pupils, family and friends. Well done to RUBY, the winning house! All the children did their very best and we are so proud of them. A HUGE thank you to Mr Knott for his great organisation. This was his 20th year organising it (and his last )
Congratulations to all staff (and a couple of keen youngsters!) who took part in the  incredible 5km Colour Run at Holme Pierrepont. Thanks to some generous donations, they raised a fantastic £660 to provide new equipment for both school playgrounds.Â
Year 5 visited Papplewick Pumping Station and interacted with ‘real’ people from the Victorian times who were influential in creating the Pumping Station and providing clean water to Nottingham. They also looked at how water is still unclean for many people around the world today.Â
Earlier this year children from across the school worked with a poet to create poems based on different Shakespeare plays. Each year group looked at a different style of poetry and then created their own versions in a Take Care way. The finished work has been displayed for over a month in one of Shakespeare’s Home (New Place) in Stratford-upon-Avon, where it has been seen by thousands of visitors from across the world.Â
Children who had received a GOLD or PLATINUM reading award for either of the spring half terms were invited to a special reading reward breakfast. To earn a GOLD award the children had to read over 35 times at home over a half term. To earn a PLATINUM they had to read over 50 times at home over a half term.
Year 4 spent the day at Papplewick Pumping Station travelling back in time to meet characters from the Victorian Age and learning more about water. They also learnt about how water is used and misused in today’s world.Â
