  • Valentine Lunch

    Sun 14 Feb 2016

On Thursday 11th February, we were delighted to welcome family and friends of the children to join us for our ‘Bring someone you care about to lunch’ meal . The children had invited someone special to come along to school and enjoy eating together. The hall and tables were decorated 'Valentine's Day style'heart with balloons and bunting, as well as colouring and quizzes for the children and their guests to complete. We hope this will be the first of many shared events.

Our choir had the opportunity to sing once again - this time at the Broadmarsh  shopping centre in Nottingham. After travelling by coach they went on stage to give a wonderful performance of a variety of traditional and contemporary Christmas songs. They were given a very warm welcome by staff from the centre, family, friends and shoppers!
  • Our Wonderful Choir

    Sun 20 Dec 2015
The choir (with Mrs Cookson) have worked extremely hard this term and have  made a huge impression when they have performed. They sang in St Wilfrid's Square, where family, friends and shoppers gave tremendous support and shortly afterwards they headed to Springwater Lodge Care Home to perform again! We are always made to feel very welcome and, after singing their hearts out, they enjoyed chatting to a few staff members and residents and were treated to juice and sweets before heading back to school. Congratulations to them and thank you to all who supported them.no
  • Musical Treat!

    Fri 04 Dec 2015
The whole school was treated to an afternoon of music by Tony, a percussionist, who was accompanied by his wife Pam. Several children got the chance to have a go themselves using a variety of percussion instruments. One pupil had the exciting job of being James Bond. Tony did sound effects while 'James Bond' went on a mini adventure - including hanging off a helicopter and driving a Bond car!

  • Children In Need & Macmillan Cancer Support

    Sun 22 Nov 2015

Sir John Sherbrooke Junior school pupils have, once again, shown their caring natures and thought of others. Firstly, they managed to raise just over £235 for Children in Need. They held a cake sale, as well as having a non-uniform day. Many children wore ‘something different’ to school. This included: odd footwear, mismatched socks, some unusual colour combinations and crazy hair!

On Wednesday 18th November, a group of children were responsible for organising events to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. The children, who are part of the school’s Take Care team, had initially approached our Executive Head, Mr Maddison, with their ideas. They too raised an incredible £235. The day started with a Story Cafe. Parents and pupils were invited to come along and have breakfast, for which they made a donation. Afterwards, Mr Maddison led a lively version of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt with children and guests joining in. This event proved to be very popular and it was great to have so much support. However, the children did not settle on just one fantastic event. Later on, they ran a tea and cake afternoon which also proved to be extremely successful. Many thanks to all those who attended, for all the help received and the donations of time, money and, of course, delicious cakes!

  • Children In Need 2015

  • Love in a Box

    Fri 13 Nov 2015
Children, family and friends have been very generous in their donations of 'shoe box' gifts. Over 40 boxes were filled and have been collected from school. These thoughtful gifts will be sent to children who otherwise would not receive presents this Christmas time.
